Overview |
This chapter describes three case studies in which results from the Ortiz Picture Vocabulary Acquisition Test™ (Ortiz PVAT™) contribute to the evaluation process for a native English speaker and two English learners. These cases are based on an integration of data across a number of evaluations; they do not represent any single case or person and do not include any personally identifiable information. These illustrations are intended to serve as examples of how the guidelines presented in this manual, including score interpretation and how to use the information provided in the Ortiz PVAT reports, might be applied. Dandee, Maria, and Bennie reflect complex and multi-faceted cases that are often encountered in a school or clinical setting. For these individuals, the Ortiz PVAT plays an important role in the assessment of language acquisition and specific learning disability.
